High Park

With over one million visitors annually, High Park is the jewel of Toronto's park system. It is the largest park entirely within Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It spans 161 hectares (398 acres, 1.61 kmē). It is a mixed recreational and natural park, with sporting facilities, cultural facilities, educational facilities, gardens, playgrounds and a zoo. High Park Children's Garden, High Park

This photo is of the sign for the High Park Children's Garden. The sign reads, "Welcome to the High Park Children's Garden! This garden was created in 1998 as an initiative of the City of Toronto's Parks and Recreation Division. Built on an old asphalt parking lot, the garden consists of raised beds in the shape of A B C which are planted with organic vegetables, herbs and flowers. The site also features a native restoration project with various Oak Savannah grasses and flowers, a composting demontration site and rain barrels. / The High Park Children's Garden is planted and maintained by children and youth who participate in gardening and nature exploration activities. Toronto Parks and Recreation programs offer children and youth a chance to learn about and enjoy organic gardening, urban ecology and Toronto's heritage through hands-on programs. / For more information on the High Park Children's Garden and related programs call 416-392-1111."
